Insurgency Station Shut Down

I had heard lots of rumors about this being on-air, but I never got the chance to check it out.

"Egypt has stopped the transmission of a private Iraqi TV station which glorifies the Sunni insurgency in Iraq. The United States has privately asked the Egyptian authorities to stop al-Zawraa which is carried on Nilesat, a government-owned TV satellite.

Al-Zawraa broadcasts from a secret location. Its owner is a former Iraqi MP who now lives in Syria.

The channel shows footage of attacks by Sunni groups against US and Iraqi forces. It also shows images of bloody and mutilated bodies of women and children which it identifies as Sunnis killed by US soldiers and Shia militiamen.

The Iraqi authorities shut down al-Zawraa's offices in Baghdad last November, accusing it of inciting hatred and instigating violence, but Mr Jaburi said his channel condemned equally all attacks against civilians."

I promise to read this blog more often... I spent almost a year in egypt and its hard to believe that more bombings don't take place. Egypt is rather dirty in its polotics and should probably be attracting more than it does... I DON"T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN THOUGH. I so intensly want all these bombings to start, but i'm just surprised that more shit doesn't go down there.

My time in egypt was completely un-touched by bombings with the exception of getting to see the blast marks in dahab on the board walk. I'm glad that that was all and i hope they continue to protect there tourism trade in the future...

dude.....we've been a target for terrorism before you've been born, and believe me Egyptian politics isn't as dirty as some others.
And don't get surprised that "more shit doesn't go down there", because the center intelligence, security police, and the terrorism police are sucking much of the country's economy for preventing such things, but unfortunately some of those bombings left the country stranded with a question of "who's our friends and who's the enemy!!"
